We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Inventory Analyst
Location: Yaba, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
What you will do
- Own the accuracy, visibility, and efficiency of TSL’s inventory.
- This role goes beyond updating stock records or preparing routine reports.
- You will be responsible for understanding what we have, what is being consumed, what is sitting too long, where discrepancies are coming from, and what needs to change to keep inventory healthy and production running efficiently.
- You will turn inventory data into clear operational decisions.
- This means identifying what needs to be reordered, where we are carrying unnecessary stock, where we are at risk of running out, and where our records do not match physical reality.
Who we are looking for - We are looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented individual who is comfortable working with operational data and can identify patterns, inconsistencies, and potential problems before they become larger issues.
- You should be an advanced spreadsheet user who can build clear reports, dashboards, trackers, and analysis that help teams make better decisions. More importantly, you should understand the reasons behind the numbers rather than simply knowing how to manipulate a spreadsheet.
- We are open to candidates from inventory, supply chain, logistics, accounting, finance, or data analysis backgrounds. What matters most is that you have experience working with operational data, investigating discrepancies, and turning your analysis into practical recommendations.
Who this role is for - You will work closely with Operations, Procurement, Finance, and other teams to maintain accurate inventory and improve how we manage stock across the business.
- You may be given a problem such as repeated stock shortages or a mismatch between physical inventory and system records, and you will be expected to investigate the cause, understand the impact, and recommend a practical solution.
- This is a hands-on individual-contributor role where you will be expected to take ownership of the information and systems within your area.
- You should be comfortable identifying problems independently, building better ways to track them, and making inventory performance visible to the people responsible for acting on it.
- This role is not for you if you are looking for a purely administrative stock-keeping position where your responsibility ends with updating spreadsheets.
- It is for you if you enjoy working with data, finding the reasons behind operational problems, and building better systems around the work.
What You Will Own - You will maintain accurate inventory records and ensure that physical stock consistently aligns with system records.
- You will monitor stock levels, inventory turnover, and stock availability to identify upcoming replenishment needs.
- You will investigate discrepancies between physical inventory and recorded stock, identify their underlying causes, and ensure that issues are properly resolved.
- You will build and maintain inventory trackers, dashboards, and reports that give the team a clear and reliable view of stock levels and inventory performance.
- You will analyse inventory movement and identify opportunities to reduce waste, excess stock, and avoidable carrying costs.
- You will provide accurate inventory analysis to support purchasing and demand planning decisions.
- You will track key inventory metrics such as stock accuracy, days on hand, and aging inventory, and use these metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- You will coordinate regular inventory reviews and physical stock counts, ensuring that findings are properly documented and followed through to resolution.
- You will maintain clear inventory documentation and reporting systems that support day-to-day operations and provide reliable information for management decisions.
- You will work cross-functionally with Operations, Finance, and other teams to resolve inventory issues and improve the processes surrounding stock management.
What You Need to Have
Non-negotiable: - 1–3 years of experience in inventory control, supply chain, logistics, accounting, finance, data analysis, or a closely related operational role.
- Advanced spreadsheet skills, with the ability to confidently use formulas, lookups, pivot tables, data cleaning, and analysis to work with large datasets.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience working with operational or financial data and using that information to develop practical insights or recommendations.
- The ability to investigate discrepancies, identify root causes, and follow issues through to resolution.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy
Strong advantages: - Experience working with inventory management, ERP, or procurement systems.
- Experience building dashboards, automated reports, or other tools that improve data visibility and decision-making.
- Experience tracking inventory KPIs such as turnover, or carrying costs.
- Experience working in a manufacturing, production, retail, or consumer goods environment.
- Experience improving an inventory or reporting process rather than simply operating an existing system.
