Job Summary

  • We are currently looking to engage a highly competent and result-oriented Laundry Officer, with strong personal & professional integrity to join our dynamic team.
    Responsibilities
  • The Laundry Officer is responsible for providing support in the daily operations of the university’s laundry services.
  • This includes washing, drying, ironing, folding, and organizing laundry for students and staff.
  • The Laundry Assistant will ensure that all laundry is processed efficiently, adhering to the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness while following safety protocols and guidelines.
    He/she is expected to:
  • Operate laundry machines for washing, drying, and ironing clothes, linens, and other items, ensuring the correct use of equipment and detergents.
  • Sort, fold, and organize clean laundry items for delivery to students and staff, ensuring accurate labeling and proper organization.
  • Identify and treat stains on laundry items using appropriate stain removal techniques and chemicals.
  • Follow specific care instructions for delicate fabrics and special laundry requests, ensuring that items are handled with care.
  • Keep the laundry facility clean and always organized, including sweeping, mopping, and disposing of waste materials.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations, including the proper handling and disposal of chemicals, and ensure safe working conditions in the laundry area.
  • Assist students and staff with laundry-related inquiries, ensuring that any concerns or requests are addressed in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Report any malfunctioning or damaged laundry equipment to the Supervisor, assisting with routine cleaning and light maintenance tasks as required.
  • Monitor and report low stock levels of laundry supplies such as detergents, fabric softeners, and other cleaning agents to the Supervisor for replenishment.
    Qualifications & Experience
  • National Diploma or SSCE.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in laundry operations.
  • Previous experience in a laundry facility or hospitality environment is an advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of laundry processes and equipment operation is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment with heavy lifting and standing for long periods.
    Key Performance Indicators
  • Average turnaround time for laundry items, targeting a maximum of 24 hours.
  • Adherence to safety and hygiene protocols, with a compliance rate of 100%.
  • Percentage of items processed without damage or loss, aiming for 99% accuracy.
  • Customer satisfaction rate, targeting 90% or higher.
  • Timely reporting of equipment malfunctions, with a response time of less than 24 hours.
  • Inventory monitoring accuracy, with no stockouts of essential supplies.
  • Number of laundry-related complaints resolved within 24 hours, targeting a 100% resolution rate.
