Job Title: Electrical Technician – HV / LV Distribution, Panels & Emergency Systems

Location: Mainland / Surulere, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Summary

  • The Electrical Technician will maintain, inspect, and repair the site’s full-scope electrical distribution infrastructure, spanning HV and LV switchgear, distribution boards, transformers, earthing systems, and emergency lighting, working alongside the generator, solar, and UPS power management systems. ‘
  • The role requires a technician confident working independently on routine PPM and fault-finding while escalating HV/complex work appropriately, in a live, 24/7, high-footfall environment.
    Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out scheduled PPM on HV and LV distribution boards, panels, transformers, and switchgear per manufacturer guidelines and statutory intervals.
  • Inspect, test, and maintain earthing and bonding systems across the site to ensure continued compliance and safety.
  • Maintain and test emergency lighting systems, including battery back-up units, to ensure continuous statutory compliance.
  • Diagnose and repair LV electrical faults (distribution circuits, lighting, small power) and support HV fault investigation under supervision of senior/HV-authorised engineers.
  • Support the interface between electrical distribution and standby power systems (generators, ATS/AMF panels, solar hybrid, UPS) during switching and changeover operations.
  • Carry out thermal imaging surveys and connection-tightening on distribution boards and panels as part of PPM.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, test certificates, and defect reports using the facility’s CMMS/CAFM platform.
  • Respond promptly to electrical emergency call-outs, including out-of-hours where required.
  • Strictly follow safe isolation, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), and permit-to-work procedures at all times; no bypassing of safety systems or interlocks under any circumstance.
  • Liaise with the Electrical Lead/Chief Engineer on parts requisition, defect escalation, and PPM scheduling.
    Requirements and Qualifications
  • OND / HND or Trade Certificate in Electrical/Electrical & Electronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 3–6 years’ hands-on experience in commercial/industrial electrical maintenance, with demonstrable exposure to both HV and LV distribution systems.
  • Working knowledge of distribution boards, transformers, earthing systems, and emergency lighting installations.
  • HV authorisation/certification (or clear eligibility to obtain) is an advantage; LV-only candidates with strong potential will also be considered.
  • Comfortable working with a CMMS/CAFM system for logging maintenance activity (training provided if not previously used).
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills, with a methodical, safety-first approach to work.
  • Willingness to work shifts, be on standby/on-call, and respond to emergency call-outs outside normal hours.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a wider engineering team on a live operational site.
  • Physically fit and able to work in plant-room/industrial environments, including at height and in confined spaces where applicable.
    Salary
