Job Description

• We’re looking for a Backend Engineer with 4–5 years of experience to help us build the core infrastructure powering financial products at scale.
• This is a hands-on engineering role. You’ll design and build APIs and backend systems where reliability, correctness, performance, security, and scalability are non-negotiable.
• You’ll work on hard problems across payments, financial data, distributed systems, third-party integrations, and developer infrastructure, and have significant ownership over the systems you build.
  Responsibilities
  What You’ll Do:
• Design and build high-performance, production-grade APIs and backend services.
• Build reliable systems for financial transactions where correctness and data integrity are critical.
• Design for scale, failure, retries, idempotency, concurrency, and observability.
• Work with databases, queues, external APIs, and financial institution integrations.
• Own systems end-to-end: architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
• Debug complex production issues and improve the reliability and performance of our infrastructure.
• Make and drive technical decisions that shape how Anchor’s backend evolves.
• Work closely with other engineers and product teams to turn complex financial problems into simple, reliable systems.
  Requirements
• 3–5 years of strong backend engineering experience.
• Deep experience building production APIs and backend systems.
• Strong understanding of system design, databases, distributed systems, and software architecture.
• Experience designing reliable systems with considerations around concurrency, idempotency, retries, and failure handling.
• Strong API design and third-party integration experience.
• High standards for code quality, testing, observability, and maintainability.
• Comfortable owning problems from architecture → code → production.
• Strong technical judgment and a genuine interest in solving difficult engineering problems.
  Bonus:
• Experience in fintech, banking, payments, or other systems where correctness and reliability are critical.
