Job Title: Accountant & HR Officer

Description
- We are looking for a diligent, detail-driven Accountant & HR Officer to run our finances and people operations. You’ll own the numbers and the staff experience, from bookkeeping to payroll to compliance. Precision and integrity are non-negotiable here.
- You’ll run day-to-day accounting and HR functions for the company. This includes bookkeeping, financial reporting, tax filing, payroll, and staff compensation and benefits administration. You’ll be the person who keeps the business compliant, organised, and financially sound.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Finance: - Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping
- Manage company finances, including cash flow monitoring
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Handle invoicing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable
- Support budgeting and financial planning
Tax & Compliance: - Handle tax filing and statutory remittances
- Ensure compliance with relevant Nigerian and UK tax and regulatory requirements
- Maintain compliance calendars and monitor filing deadlines
- Liaise with regulatory authorities where required
HR & Payroll: - Run the HR department and its core functions
- Process staff salary, compensation, and benefits accurately and on time
- Maintain employee records and payroll documentation
Support onboarding and general HR administration
General: - Recommend process improvements across accounting and HR functions
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and staff data at all times
Performance Metrics & KPIs - Accuracy and timeliness of payroll processing
- Timeliness of tax filing and statutory compliance (Nigeria and UK)
- Accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting
- Efficiency in accounts receivable collection
- HR administration turnaround (onboarding, record-keeping, staff queries)
What Success Looks Like - At 90 days: Financial records are fully organised, payroll runs smoothly, and all statutory obligations (Nigeria and UK) are on track with no missed deadlines.
- At 1 year: The company runs on clean, reliable financial and HR systems. You’re trusted to manage both functions with minimal oversight, and process improvements you’ve introduced are visibly reducing errors and delays.
Skills & Competencies Required
Must-have: - Minimum qualification: Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in accounting
- 5+ years of experience in administration
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial controls
- Working knowledge of both Nigerian and UK tax/regulatory requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Nice-to-have: - HR knowledge and experience
- Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent)
