Job Description
- An Agri Value Chain Specialist in Olam Agri is responsible for designing, developing, supporting, and driving practical innovations and farmer programs to promote regenerative agriculture.
- This role focuses on improving soil health, irrigation practices, residue management, reducing post-harvest losses, and conserving biodiversity around farms.
- The incumbent will work as a core team member on on-farm regenerative agriculture projects aimed at improving per-hectare yields of soybean and maize, while delivering socio-economic impact and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
- The role also involves building internal capacity and enabling the effective transfer of knowledge and technology to smallholder farmers within soy and maize supply chains.
- Additionally, the role includes onboarding farmers, conducting geo-location mapping, and ensuring accurate reporting of sustainability metrics.
Key Responsibilities - Design, develop, and implement regenerative agriculture programs across soy and maize value chains
- Drive practical innovations to improve soil health, irrigation efficiency, residue management, and reduce post-harvest losses
- Support biodiversity conservation initiatives within farming ecosystems
- Develop training materials and build internal capabilities for effective implementation of regenerative agriculture principles
- Facilitate the transfer and adoption of sustainable farming practices among smallholder farmers
- Contribute to on-ground project execution to enhance crop yields and environmental outcomes
- Lead farmer onboarding, including geo-location mapping and sustainability data tracking
- Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to scale program impact
Job Requirements
Qualifications: - Master’s or PhD Degree in Agriculture or an equivalent technical qualification in a relevant field.
Experience: - 8–10+ years of relevant experience in agriculture or sustainability-focused roles
- Strong experience in soy and maize value chains
Proven track record of working within large organisations and driving sustainable agriculture initiatives - Experience in managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders
- Exposure to working with donors, implementing agencies, and partners is desirable
- Experience with geo-spatial analysis tools is an added advantage.
Skills & Competencies: - Strong program management and organisational skills
- Proven team management capabilities with a focus on execution and scaling impact
- High level of self-motivation and ability to work independently
- Willingness to travel extensively and work in remote or challenging environments
- A strong passion for sustainable agriculture and food systems.
